Permanent blocks are the holy grail of blocks. After being successfully set up, a permanent block does not require any player to be present for the block to remain in effect. A classic example of this is blocking a lever that opens only once. Failing to completely open, the lever returns to its closed position permanently, never opening the door it is associated with and thus permanently blocking the map.
